Confluence of the Snake and Clearwater Rivers from Highway 95 overlook. Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington are on the left and right shores of the Snake River.

From the edge of the Palouse, at an overlook on Highway 95, you can see the wide expanse of the Nez Perce homeland. The towns in the distance are Lewiston, Idaho and Clarkston, Washington.

Horses came into Nez Perce country about the 1730s and the Nez Perce became well known for their large herds of fine horses. The Nez Perce practiced selective breeding to obtain the traits of intelligence, endurance, and speed.
