Pictures and Poetry of the Civil War: Stereographic Civil War Photos as they were meant to be seen and Poems by Walt Whitman, Merman Melville and other Civil War poets.
Presented by John Wojtowicz and Laurie Roberston-Lorant
The Civil War occurred when photography was becoming widely available and thousands of three-dimensional images of the war were shot with Stereo cameras. The was also inspired as great deal of poetry, much of it published in The Rebellion Record, and Walt Whitman and Herman Melville both produced significant books of Civil War poetry: Drum-Taps and Battle-Pieces.
