Description: 30th and Holly - renovated basketball court, sidewalk, steps, replaced fence, railroad tie retaining structure, and replaced basketball equipment. 1314 Garfield - renovated play area, installed new playground equipment, benches and tables. 24th and Woodland - installed new playground equipment. 2522 Chestnut - Installed new park benches and playground equipment, and constructed sidewalks. 35th and Wabash - repaired sidewalks, curbs, installed a wood play structure, park benches and play areas. 57th and Forest - repaired sidewalks and landscaping. Hill Park - renovated restrooms, parking lot, sand play area, wood play structure, sidewalks, installed new benches and tables, and repaired rock wall around historic cemetary at park site.

Central park - renovated playground, pool, walkways and ramps. Brooklyn Park and Oak Park - renovated playground, shelter, picnic area, and basketball courts. Budd Park - renovated exercise and jogging trails, playground, play court, swimming pool, game area, shelter/restroom building, and ballfield. Blue Valley Park and Recreation Center - renovated two playgrounds, walks, picnic areas, and parking lots. Garrison Square and Belvidere Playground - renovated playground, swimming pool, play fields, and basketball courts.

Brookfield Plaza - renovated three tennis courts, and installed new fence. Brush Creek Park, Chelsea Park, Cleveland Park, Roanoke Park, Seven Oaks Park, Dunn Park and Budd Park - renovated tennis courts and comfort stations. Crews Square and Spring Valley Park - renovated tennis courts and comfort stations. Englewood Park - resurfaced park road. Gillham Park - renovated tennis courts, and installed new fence. Golden Oaks Park, Lykins Community Center, and Lakewood Greenway - resurfaced parking lots. Hodge Park - resurfaced dam road, new water line to clubhouse, and new lights in barn. Holmes Park - renovated comfort station. Kansas City North Community Center - resurfaced parking lot. Kessler Park - renovated tennis courts, resurfaced parking lot, installed new fence and water fountain lines. Lykins Square - renovated comfort station. Minor Park - renovated main road and service area pads, new lights for shelter. Penn Valley Park - renovated tennis courts, comfort stations, and new lights and fountain wiring. Southeast Community Center - replaced incandescent gym light fixtures. Swope Memorial Golf Course - constructed cart paths, upgraded irrigation system, and new security lights. Blue River Golf Course - constructed cart paths. Parade Park - renovated two restrooms. Waterworks Park - renovated comfort station, installed new drinking fountains.

Description: Renovated recreation center building, handicap improvement modifications inside building, constructed a colonnade for outdoor passive activities, and renovated playground. Repaired horseshoe court and shuffleboard court.

Project: Recreation Programming for Seniors and Disabled Citizens

Federal Share: $211,502

Fiscal Year: 1982

Description: A pilot recreation program designed for seniors and disabled persons. The Parks Department, in partnership with the University of Missouri-Columbia, trained recreation staff and volunteers, produced training manuals, and evaluated recreation programming and social service aspect of the program. Services provided were health and exercise, nature, camping, and social recreation activities. In addition, three recreation centers were renovated removingt physical barriers and improving handicap access. These centers were Gamble Recreation Center, West End Center, and O'Fallon Park Boathouse.

Adams Playground - installed new playground equipment and benches, and repaired walkways. Barrett Brothers Park - installed new playground equipment, and repaired walkways. Carondelet Lions Park - installed new playground equipment, and repaired walkways. Franz Park - new playground equipment, and repaired walkways. St. Louis Place Park - repaired walkways. Beckett Park - installed new benches, renovated walkways, spray pool, and drinking fountains. Lafayette Park - installed new playground equipment, renovated ballfields, basketball/volley ball court, and horseshoe court. Cherokee Park - installed new playground equipment, and repaired walkways. Francis Park - renovated tennis and racquetball courts. Sublette Park - repaired walkways. Carr Square Park - installed new playground equipment. Grand and Washington Park - upgraded landscaping. Compton Hill Park - installed new playground equipment, resurfaced service road and walkways.

Description: Chambers Park is a 6.31-acre facility located in a very economically depressed neighborhood. Renovations include swimming pool repairs, new filtration system, removal and construction of filtration building/comfort station, new playground equipment, ball court repairs, and ballfield improvements.
