Portion of National Scenic Trail Near Tupelo Closed to Hikers
Part of the Natchez Trace National Scenic Trail (NOT the Parkway) near Tupelo, MS, has been closed until 2015 due to construction under Tupelo's Major Thoroughfare Construction Project. Parkway travelers may expect delays, but no detours are expected. More »
Parkway Trails Closed for Maintenance at Rocky Springs Site

The Natchez Trace Parkway horse trail at milepost 59.2 and Fischer Ferry Road will be closed from the trailhead south to the endpoint located at the crossing of Whitaker Road. In addition, the Owens Creek hiking trail from the Rocky Springs Campground south to Owens Creek will be closed. Both trails will be posted closed for public notice. The closure is necessary to ensure safety in the use of the trail. The duration of this closure is undetermined at this time, but the Parkway will work to reopen the area as soon as possible. The closure will begin Friday, March 18, 2011, at 5:00 pm. |
