The National Park Service announced today that resurfacing work is underway on the Natchez Trace Parkway between Interstate 20 (milepost 87) and US Highway 61 (milepost 37) near Port Gibson, Miss. Work will include the milling and overlay of bridges between mileposts 87 and 59 and the milling and overlay of the Parkway road surface between mileposts 59 and 37. This work is scheduled to last until the end of the 2007 calendar year.

No detours from the Parkway are planned, but motorists should expect to encounter minor delays due to one lane road closures during work hours.  Also motorists are urged to use caution and be aware of construction workers and equipment in this area.
