Social Studies/Geography This Land is YOUR Land: Students will learn to value the preservation of history by identifying personally historic objects which are important to them. Science What’s Happenin’ on the Trace: The students will investigate current events associated with the Natchez Trace Parkway. They will write a journalisti-type report and/or develop a visual presentation. Subject areas may include: community events or issues, plants, animals, invasive species, boundary issues, social issues and environmental issues. Physical Education Traveling the Natchez Trace: The students will engage in several physical exercises while using their map skills. |
Did You Know?
Meriwether Lewis, of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, was governor of the Upper Louisiana Territory when he died on the Natchez Trace in 1809, at Grinder's Stand in Tennessee. A monument was erected in his honor in 1848 and can be seen along the Natchez Trace Parkway today.
