Primary/Elementary

Kindergarten: KSS--Spotted Salamanders
Summary
: The students will learn that scientists have learned that spotted salamanders protect themselves by having bright spots. They will assemble the parts of a salamander to make a whole salamander.

1st grade: 1SS--Spotted Salamanders
Summary:
The students will learn that salamanders lay eggs, and change shape and go through several growth changes on their way to becoming adults.

2nd grade: 2SS--Spotted Salamanders
Summary:
The students will learn about the life of a salamander by illustrating a book about the spotted salamander.

3rd and 4th grades: EAT--Across the Trace
Summary:
The students will learn about the life and hardships of the life of the spotted salamander and develop a poster to advertise their plight.

5th grade: MAT--Across the Trace (b)
Summary:
The students will learn about the life and hardships of the life of the spotted salamander, write a short report and develop a poster that will advertise their plight.

 

Middle School

Double arch bridge at mile post 438 on the Natchez Trace Parkway

The double arch bridge at milepost 438 on the Natchez Trace Parkway was completed in 1994 and received the Presidential Award for Design Excellence in 1995 for its innovative design. The bridge rises 155 feet above the valley and eliminates the need for spandrel columns.
