Operating Hours & Seasons

Natchez National Historical Park consists of three units with differing times of operation.

Melrose
The Historic Melrose Estate is open everyday of the year except for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. The grounds and gardens are open daily from 8:30am to 5:00pm. The first tour begins at 10:00am and subsequent tours offered at the top of every hour, with the last tour departing at 4:00pm. Note: There will be no 11am or 1pm Melrose House Tour until further notice. Available tours will be at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm.

The William Johnson House
The William Johnson House is open from 9:00am to 5:00pm everyday except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Note: when staffing is limited the site is closed for lunch from 1:00pm to 1:45pm. During the weekend the site is closed from 10:00-10:45am on Saturdays and 2:00-2:45pm on Sundays for the Downtown Walking Tours. The tours and times are subject to change and are available as staffing permits. Call the William Johnson House at 601-445-5345 for more information.

Fort Rosalie
Fort Rosalie is currently not open for tours.

American free blacks

During the antebellum period, Natchez Mississippi was the home of over two hundred and fifty free blacks. The largest number of free blacks lived in New Orleans and numbered over two thousand.
