Fees & Reservations

Please note:  Beginning April 25, 2011 there will be no 11am or 1pm Melrose House Tour until further notice.  Available tours will be at 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 3pm, and 4pm.

RESERVATIONS
School groups, church groups, and group tours, please make a reservation by calling 601-445-5347.   If you would like a quicker response, please email the group coordinator directly. Reservations must be made two weeks or more in advance.

SPECIAL USE
A special use permit is required for any activities on park grounds (at Melrose, the William Johnson House, or Fort Rosalie) beyond normal visitation activities. For more information, contact Dave Wyrick, Chief of Interpretation & Resource Management at 601-442-7049 ext. 14.  The park will  not  issue special use permits for weddings on the grounds or inside any historic structures, but wedding photography is allowed on the grounds at Melrose.

FEES
Most of the year, there are fees for Melrose House tours; however, the following dates, there will be no charge. The William Johnson House is free of charge all year round.

2012 Fee Free Days at Melrose

January 14-16         Martin Luther King, Jr. Birthday weekend
April 21-29             In honor of National Park Week
September 29         National Public Lands Day
November 10-12      For all U.S. military veterans, current members of the
                            U.S. armed
 forces and their families.

These dates are a chance for a free visit to a park that has an entrance fee--but every day--there are more than 200 national parks that never charge an entrance fee. Please visit http://www.nps.gov/findapark/feefreeparks.htm to link to the list of fee free parks.

Melrose
The  grounds, formal gardens, and outbuildings including slave cabins, stable, privy, and dairy are open during business hours and are free of charge.  Melrose house tour fees are as follows.  Please note for house tours fees, credit cards are not accepted.  
Payment must be made in cash or check.

    Adults 18-61 are $10
    Seniors 62 and over $5
    Children 6-17 are $5
    Children under 6 are free.

Group rate- 13 or more people $7. If you are coming as a group , please make a reservation two weeks in advance by calling 601-445-5345 or directly email the group coordinator.

The William Johnson House
There is NO fee to visit the William Johnson House. However, Group tours are encouraged to make a reservation two weeks in advance by email to the group coordinator.

The Briars

Did You Know?
Jefferson Davis married Varina Howell at her Natchez home , the Briars in 1845. Built in 1818 the home was named for the briar vines growing near its location on the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River.
