Q. Where are the cherry trees located?

A. The cherry trees currently grow in three main park locations: around the Tidal Basin in West Potomac Park, in East Potomac Park (Haines Point), and on the Washington Monument grounds. A few other additional locations hold additional trees.

East Potomac Park - 1,681 trees

Tidal Basin (West Potomac Park) - 1678 trees

Washington Monument Grounds - 342 trees

The original gift of Cherry Trees from Japan in 1910 had to be destroyed due to disease and infestation. There was an additional gift made two years later that became the basis for the trees we still have today.
