Anacostia Park Environmental Cleanup Projects
Anacostia Park is located on both sides of the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C. As a result of various industrial activities that took place over a period of more than 100 years, parts of Anacostia Park maybe contaminated with hazardous substances that could pose a risk to human health or the environment. The National Park Service (NPS) is currently pursuing cleanup at the following three Anacostia Park sites as lead agency under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA):
