Munemori Blue Star Pin


Families across America displayed service flags in their windows during World War II; each star represented a son or daughter in the service. This flag belonged to Sadao Munemori’s mother, Nawa, who “hung the banner…in our barrack window,” recalled his sister. “When Sadao was killed, she took the banner down.”

Soil Sample

Soil from Georgia Hill in Italy where Sadao Munemori was killed in 1945. Italian authorities presented this soil to Munemori's sister Yaeko in Pietrasanta, Italy on April 25, 2000.
