Fishhooks 1942-1945 Many internees had fished before the war, either professionally or recreationally. Bordering Manzanar on the north and south were streams offering trout and other fish. Sneaking out of camp, particularly in the later years when guard towers were no longer staffed, provided an opportunity to catch the "big one" and experience a taste of denied freedom. Metal.
