Lincoln funeral from Chicago with large triple arch in background. After Lincoln was assassinated on April 15, 1865, his body was brought back to Springfield by train. In the 20 days it took to get back, funerals were held in several cities, including Chicago on May 1, 1865. This newspaper image depicts a large arch over the street and soldiers serving as pallbearers.
