Queens of England
1861

The Lincolns were found of reading, especially biographies.  Mrs. Lincoln signed the book, “Mary Lincoln 1860” but the copyright in the book is 1861.  Perhaps this was an advanced copy from an admirer.  Mrs. Lincoln later compared herself to another famous widow at the time, Queen Victoria.  The Queen sent her a warm letter of condolence after Lincoln’s death.
