Drain Tile
1846
Hand-coiled drainage tile installed by Lincoln in north yard towards front.

As Springfield grew, many improvements were made for the citizens. This included an improved drainage system that home owners were allowed to tap into. Lincoln had rows of these tubes, called drain tiles, installed around his house to divert water away from the foundation.
