Floral design in shades of brown with bright blue ribbon
.

The Lincolns added a full second story to their house in 1855-56.  Mrs. Lincoln  supervised most of the work as Mr. Lincoln was gone on the legal circuit for much of the time. She also did the interior decorating, including choosing this wallpaper for Mr. Lincoln’s room. In 1987, the wallpaper was removed from the wall and a patch was found that when removed, revealed the original colors. The wallpaper was reproduced based on the bright colors and hangs in Mr. Lincoln’s bedroom today.
