Laurence Hall Fowler

Noted Baltimore architect Laurence Hall Fowler drew this plan of the Hampton gardens to illustrate “Hampton: An Old Colonial Mansion and Gardens at Towson, Maryland,” an extensive article he wrote on the estate. Some authorities believe the pattern of the parterres as Fowler shows them had changed little since the mid-19th century.
