William Ball, considered the finest silversmith working in the early Neoclassical style in Baltimore, made silver for the Ridgelys ranging in size from this small piece to a magnificent tea tray weighing 277 ounces. Both are embellished with “bright cut” engraved banding and shield from the Ridgely coat of arms.
