Vase
c 1945
On 11 October 1945, Dr. Peter Zenki, Lord Mayor of Prague, presented General Eisenhower this crystal vase at the new City Hall in Prague, Czechoslovakia. The four sides are etched with Praha, 11-X-45, a cityscape of Prague, and the Czechoslovakian coat-of-arms, respectively.

In the aftermath of World War II, Eisenhower was acclaimed a hero for the defeat of Nazi Germany. Accolades and praise came from around the world as well as the United States. The people of Czechoslovakia provided him with several gifts, including this vase, in gratitude for his role in liberating their country.
