To support the war effort at home, it was necessary for the US Government to sponsor war bonds. By purchasing war bonds, Americans helped defray the costs of financing the global conflict. Emphasizing the need to contribute, post D-Day war bond posters depicted General Eisenhower and the embattled American soldiers in Europe.
