The Sandburg’s youngest daughter Helga lived at Connemara, their North Carolina farm, from 1945-1952 with her two children, John Carl and Paula. She managed the everyday milking and chores at the dairy, assisted her father with typing manuscripts and editing, and painted. This oil painting is one of several of her father. She also painted portraits of other family members.
