Carl Sandburg Portrait
By Helga Sandburg

Carl Sandburg's youngest daughter, Helga, painted numerous portraits of her father. She worked on these portraits as he rested, so his eyes were often closed. While she sometimes used the more conventional canvas, often Helga would use a variety of surfaces for her oils. This portrait is on plywood.
