Fox: A Standard of Business in the Realm of Entertainment
1926

This publication included colorful playbills and pictures of Fox Film Studio's directors. It is likely a relic of Sandburg's movie critic days. In the 1920s, Carl Sandburg worked as a movie critic for the Chicago Daily News, writing an average of six reviews per week. Sandburg "had a longtime fascination with visual images... A keen interest in motion pictures as an entertainment form was logical for Sandburg, with his close ties to the American lyceum, chautauqua and vaudeville circuits." (Niven, p 365) Sandburg's interest in motion pictures continued throughout his life, culminating in his writing for The Greatest Story Ever Told in the 1960s.
