Admiration for Mrs. Sandburg's achievements was apparent throughout the country as well as in her own home. Mrs. Sandburg was as famous as a breeder of dairy goats as her husband was as a writer. "It is a real farm they have at Connemara; it takes work and intelligence, and is no rich poet's toy," recalls Bruce Weirick upon a visit to the poet's home. (Niven, p 648) Although Mr. Sandburg had nothing to do with the farm operations, he gave his wife her just reward whenever he could by promoting and supporting her endeavors.
