Bird watching was an avid activity at Connemara, particularly attended to by the eldest daughter, Margaret, and Mrs. Sandburg. Mrs. Sandburg once said of her love of birds, “We don’t go to the movies, none of us owns a fur coat; the birds are our luxury.”
