This Space Command remotve control or “blab-off” was given to Carl Sandburg by E.F. McDonald, President of the Zenith Corporation, so he could mute commercials, since Sandburg thought that commercials were filled with “cheap trickery” and did not care for them at all. He had strong views regarding this media as he stated, "When we reach the stage when all of the people are entertained all of the time, we will be very close to having the opiate of the people." (Niven, p 663)
