Rough, Scraped Pot
Pottery Making Series [4 of 9]
Santa Clara Pueblo
c 1940
By Legoria Tafoya
After enough coils have been added, the potter shapes and turns the pot. She uses a rounded piece of gourd to scrape it inside and out. This action obliterates the lines between the coils and smoothes the surface.
