Description: Box for watercolors. Ink inscription on bottom "William Brewer"; initials "W" & "B" incised in several places.

Mr. Custis and his daughter Mary enjoyed painting. Custis created several Revolutionary War battle scenes featuring George Washington. Mary Custis painted coastal scenes in oil, watercolors, and pencil sketches of the slaves.
