Plate Warmer
c. 1850

Description: Metal plate warmer with three shelves; a handle on each side, four cabriole legs with animal paw feet, open back, painted decoration on the door in green, red, orange and yellow though partially faded and worn; four smaller designs in each of the corner son the door.

Placed near a fireplace, the warmer would use the warmth of the fire to keep plates of food from cooling in between courses.
