FRDO2307: Bow


Brown wooden violin with a label reading "Copy of/Antonius Stradivarius/Made in Germany." Label located inside violin. Bridge replaced, reads: Aubert." Embossed along edge of chin rest: "Becker's Chin and Shoulder Rest." Orginally belonged to Frederick Douglass, was in possession of Mrs. Fannie Douglass, wife of Douglass' grandson, Joseph. Some nicks and scratches, see catalog folder for preservation record: strings and bridge replaced. Object is reproduction of type of violin, but is Federick Douglass' violin.

This item is displayed at the historic site in the West Parlor.
