Packing Up

Moving In

The Museum Resource Center / Regional Archeology Program Move Out!

Most of the archeological collection housed at the Museum Resource Center was already packed in archivally-stable boxes and simply had to be moved from thier current shelving on to portable tier racks. These racks were then wrapped in plastic to provide added stability, and finally stacked. The shelves in the following two photos contain objects from our oversized collection. While most archeological artifacts fit easily into standard boxes, these items required special packing. Other items with special packing requirements include our Ceramic, Glass, and Metal Type Collection and our Faunal Comparative Collection.

(Those of you familiar with the Regional Archeology Program's large anchored shelving unit may enjoy seeing its final breakdown and dismemberment by the maintenance crew from Manassas National Battlefield Park.
