THE MUSEUM RESOURCE CENTER

Contributions To The Preservation Of Museum Collections

Visitors to the National Parks will recognize the familiar hats and uniforms of National Park Service Rangers. These rangers have a unique understanding of how history is anchored to the land because they are the caretakers of many buildings, monuments and historic places all over the country. Often they are the caretakers of battlefields whose grounds give up crops of bullets, bayonet tips and other relics of battle. What is not as well known is the story of the continued preservation of these objects from these lands, by the National Park Service. This work is carried out by museum professionals from many different disciplines such as history, archeology, and the natural sciences.
