Pets: Pets (except licensed guide dogs) are not permitted in any part of the memorial, except in the pet exercise areas located at each end of the upper parking level facility. Please pick up after your pet with bags that are provided in these areas. Since pets must stay in your vehicle while you visit the memorial, you should park in the parking garage's shaded areas (Levels 1,2,4,&5).

Over 90% of Mount Rushmore was carved by using dynamite. Dynamite blasts removed approximately 450,000 tons of rock from the mountain.
