  • No sculpture illumination October 6, 7 and 8, 2014

    Due to replacement of the lighting system, the sculpture will not be illuminated on October 6, 7 and 8, 2014. The mountain will be illuminated for 30 minutes, beginning 1/2 hour after sunset, October 1- 5, and will resume nightly on October 9, 2014.

Mount Rushmore Rangers In The Classroom

All programs are based on South Dakota and national curriculum standards

  • All programs are free
  • Programs are available to schools within a 40-mile radius of the park

To request a ranger program, please fill out the reservation form below and submit by fax or email. Please contact us with any questions concerning our classroom programs.

The 2015 Education Program Newsletter and application for reserving ranger programs for your classroom will be posted here in late December, 2014.

A committee of the Rapid City Women's Club headed by Mrs. C.C. Warren and Mrs. Gutzon Borglum created this 39ft by 67ft flag for the dedication of the Washington figure on July 4, 1930. This flag was later used by Gutzon Borglum to dedicate each of the other presidents.
