Paradise Shuttle Schedule

Ride the FREE Weekend Shuttle to Paradise

From June 19 through September 6, 2009 you can ride the weekend shuttle to Paradise, with an option to begin outside the park in Ashford, Washington or inside the park at Longmire and Cougar Rock. This is the second year that the park has coordinated with the community of Ashford to offer this service to the visitors.

With the final phase of construction continuing in the Paradise area, parking is limited and traffic is slow. By riding the shuttle you will avoid the hassle of finding a parking place and help to reduce the traffic congestion along the two lane historic road to Paradise. You will also help Mount Rainier reduce its greenhouse gas emissions and consequently aide in protecting the park's natural and cultural resources.

Shuttle Along the Valley Road
The main parking area near the visitor center at Paradise only accommodates about 205 cars. Parking is limited to two hours and is generally full by 11:00 a.m. If you drive your car to Paradise, hikers and day use visitors are encouraged to park along the Valley Road instead of the main parking area.  On Saturdays and Sundays between 11:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., a shuttle will pick up passengers along the Paradise Valley Road and take them to the visitor center.

Artist rendering of the Osceola Mudflow releasing from Mount Rainier.

Did You Know?
About 5,600 years ago the summit and northeast face of Mount Rainier fell away in a massive landslide accompanied by volcanic explosions. The Osceola Mudflow, a towering wall of mud and rock, thundered down the White River Valley where it deposited 600' of debris eventually reaching the Puget Sound.
