The 1999 Annual Meeting of the Northwest Scientific Association was held in Tacoma, Washington, March 24-27, 1999. The theme, A Century of Resource Stewardship and Beyond: Mount Rainier National Park 100th Anniversary Symposium, focused on scientific research on various parts of the park. This web site presents abstracts of papers which focused primarily on Mount Rainier National Park. Some papers are included in their entirety.

Did You Know?
In 1911, President William Howard Taft's touring car was the first vehicle to drive the newly-built road to Paradise. The road was very muddy, and the car had to be pulled through the upper portion by a team of mules. Learn more about Mount Rainier's transportation history at the following link:
