Memorial Day Commemoration
May 26 - 28, 2012

Monocacy National Battlefield will host a memorial flag display in honor of those soldiers who fell during the Battle of Monocacy.On Memorial Day, May 28, buglers will echo taps across the battlefield.

Volunteers are needed to place the 1100 Union and Confederate flags on Saturday, May 26th.Everyone wishing to volunteer must meet at the park visitor center between 8:30 and 9:00 a.m.Registration is not required but recommended.Interested individuals or groups can register by calling 301-662-3515.

Park rangers will present programs about the history of Memorial Day on Saturday, May 26and Sunday, May 27 at 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.On Memorial Day, May 28, visitors are encouraged to participate in a National Moment of Remembrance.At 3:00 p.m. park staff and visitors will pause for one minute of silence followed by the playing of taps to pay tribute to the men and women who have died in service to our country.

Programs and activities will take place at the Monocacy National Battlefield Visitor Center, located on Maryland State Route 355, two miles south of Frederick, Maryland. All programs are free!
