Calling all kids and those young at heart! Monocacy National Battlefield will host a Camp of Instruction for visitors of all ages at the historic Worthington Farm on Saturday, June 4, 2011. Visitors will be mustered into the military by costumed interpreters and drilled on the different marching techniques and rifle positions for infantrymen. Park Rangers will also provide a hands-on program and activity about the park's most abundant residents: deer. Informal and formal hands-on programs will be provided throughout the day. Participate in this fun and educational experience and receive a Junior Ranger Day Patch!
Activities will begin at 9:00 a.m., with the last demonstration beginning at 2:30 p.m. The encampment and event will end at 4:00 p.m. Registration is not required and the event is free.
