Park Day 2008

Monocacy National Battlefield in cooperation with the Civil War Preservation Trust and underwritten with a grant from The History Channel, will host the "10th Annual Park Day" cleanup on Saturday, April 5, 2008. Park Day is presented in partnership with Take Pride in America, a division of the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Volunteers are asked to assist with a cleanup project on the Gambrill Mill property. The project will primarily consist of trash removal and at the conclusion of the event, a ranger program will be offered for those who participate in the project.

Volunteers should meet at the Visitor Center, by 9:00 a.m., and dress for field work. Trousers, long sleeves and boots are recommended. Each volunteer should bring a pair of gloves which are required. Volunteers should also pack a lunch or snack for an on-sight break. Water will be provided throughout the day.

Park Day promises a lot of hard work, but also a lot of fun. It is an important event that, year after year, proves to be a success thanks to volunteers. In the event of inclement weather the event will take place on Saturday, April 12, 2008. Registration is not required but recommended. Interested individuals or groups can register by calling 301-662-3515.

For further information or questions contact Brett Spaulding by phone at 301-662-3515 or by e-mail.
