Monocacy National Battlefield, a unit of the National Park Service in Frederick County, is currently recruiting individuals to be a part of their Youth Conservation Corps (YCC) crew for the summer of 2012. The park is located between the city of Frederick and Urbana, along Route 355, and was established to commemorate the American Civil War battle that took place there on July 9th, 1864.

The crew works outdoors on projects such as building and maintaining hiking trails, removing and building fences, painting fences and buildings, improving wildlife habitat, and wildlife monitoring and management. In addition to the work projects, we'll be learning about the environment around us while helping to make the battlefield a better place to visit.

The positions are for ages 15 to 18, are 40 hours per week, and last 8 weeks - from June 18th until August 10th. There are approximately 6 positions to be filled and the crew members will earn $7.25 per hour. Come enjoy a great work experience, with great people, while having fun preserving our parks.

Just read through the information attached, fill out the application, and return it to the park before April 20th, 2012. The park's address is: Monocacy National Battlefield c/o Andrew Banasik 4632 Araby Church Rd. Frederick, MD 21704
