Explorer Ranger Program

If you are 18 or older, and the kind of person who never gets tired of learning, then Monocacy National Battlefield has a challenge for you! Become an Explorer Ranger.

You will learn about the cultural and natural history of Monocacy National Battlefield, one of America's nearly 400 National Parks. Explore the park to learn about the Battle of Monocacy or discover the beauty of nature while hiking a battlefield trail.

Ask for a FREE Explorer Ranger booklet at the park visitor center or download your own copy. When you have completed nine activities, return the booklet to the visitor center to receive your Explorer Ranger pin.

Activities include scavenger hunts, word puzzles, trail hikes, a virtual geocache course, and being a VIP. VIPs are park volunteers, and you can register to be a volunteer for by calling the park visitor center at 301-662-3515. Once you have completed your volunteer service have a park ranger sign your Explorer Ranger booklet!

Monocacy National Battlefield is located on Maryland State Route 355, two miles south of Frederick, Maryland. For additional information please call 301-662-3515.
