Portable toilets at Kelso Depot Visitor Center
The water system at Kelso is shut down due to problems with the storage tank. Portable toilets are available; bottled water is available for purchase. Campers note-you won't be able to fill water bottles at Kelso until the system is repaired.

Kelso Depot Visitor Center hours
Kelso Depot Visitor Center is open Fridays through Tuesdays from 9 am to 5 pm, closed Wednesdays and Thursdays. The Beanery Lunch Counter is closed.
Mojave National Preserve to host fire center open house

Mojave National Preserve's Fire Management Officer, Chuck Heard announced today that the Interagency Hole-in-the-Wall Fire Center would host its annual public open house on Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
This is a free event open to the public. Tours of the Fire Center will be provided as well as information to help you protect your home from wildland fire The Fire Center is located on Black Canyon Road across from the Hole-in-the-Wall Information Center in Mojave National Preserve.
Directions: Take Interstate 40 to Essex Road exit, then north to Black Canyon Road. The Fire Center is about 15 miles north of Interstate 40 Now is the time to start thinking about how to protect your home and family from wildland fire.
