Rimrock, AZ - The Southwest Monarch Study and the National Park Service would like to invite the public to sign up for a unique volunteer experience! We will be catching, tagging, and releasing Monarch Butterflies so we can learn more about these delicate creatures.

Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments to Host Two Volunteer Recruitment Fairs in August
Camp Verde, AZ - The National Park Service welcomes and encourages local area residents to learn about its Volunteer Program by attending one of two programs. The first Volunteer Fair will be held on Friday, August 14th, at Montezuma Castle National Monument in Camp Verde, AZ. The second Fair will be held on Friday, August 28th, at Tuzigoot National Monument in Clarkdale, AZ.

Archaeologists To Discuss Flintknapping And ‘Life In The Pueblo’ At Montezuma Castle
Camp Verde, AZ - Southwestern archaeologists Kathryn Kamp and John Whittaker will demonstrate the art of flintknapping and discuss “Life in the Pueblo”, at a book signing Saturday, August 1, at Montezuma Castle National Monument, Camp Verde, AZ. The event, sponsored by Western National Parks Association, will be from 9:30 a.m. to noon with overviews of basic flintknapping techniques at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot Will Increase Entrance Fees Beginning August 4, 2015
Camp Verde and Clarkdale, AZ – Starting on August 4th, 2015, Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments will increase entrance fees for visitors in order to fund important maintenance and improvement projects within the parks.

Prescribed Burning Planned at Montezuma Well 2015
Camp Verde, AZ— The National Park Service plans to burn several piles of woody debris and Russian thistle at Montezuma Well in late-February or early March. The piles will only be burned if environmental conditions are favorable and an adequate number of firefighters are available.

Montezuma Castle National Monument Receives 2014 Park Stewards Grant
Camp Verde Arizona – Montezuma Castle/Tuzigoot National Monument is one of 28 national parks selected to receive a 2014 Park Stewards grant from the National Park Foundation, the official charity of America’s national parks. Our Natural Resource project educates youth on native plant identification, propagation, and restoration of our native areas, by working directly with two local high schools.

Montezuma Castle to Host Weekly Native American Flute Circles Beginning October 5
CAMP VERDE, Ariz. – Beginning Sunday, October 5, the National Park Service will partner with Western National Parks Association to offer a 10:00 a.m. flute circle at Montezuma Castle National Monument. A flute circle is a gathering of people who meet regularly to learn, play, share, or simply enjoy music played on Native American flutes.

Montezuma Castle and Tuzigoot National Monuments will be joining national park units around the country as they waive entrance fees on Veterans Day in recognition of current and former service men and women.

Montezuma Castle Visitor Center Is 50 Years Old
To commemorate its upcoming 50th anniversary in 1966, the National Park Service initiated a 10-year program in 1956 to prepare it to meet the demands of the next 50 years. Dubbed "Mission 66", this effort gave birth to the visitor center, as we know it today. Fifty years ago this month, U.S. Senator Barry Goldwater cut the ribbon dedicating Montezuma Castle National Monument's new state of the art visitor center, a facility that was built as part of this initiative.

National Park Service Announces New "Green Ranger" Program for Kids at Montezuma Well
The National Park Service will be starting a new youth program called the "Green Rangers" targeting kids around the ages of 9-12 to learn about native plants and habitat restoration at Montezuma Well. Kids will be working with park natural resource staff to plant and collect native seed and help weed invasive plants in the Native Pollinator and Hopi Garden areas at Montezuma Well.
