Missouri River Flooding -- Updated 10/18/11

The Army Corps of Engineers has determined that the flood of 2011 is now over.  The river is within its banks and levees from Fort Peck, Montana to St Louis.

Bank Stabilization and Erosion Control Information

Missouri National Recreational River is a unit of the National Park Service and America's Wild & Scenic Rivers System. Because of these special designations, there are regulations about bank stabilization and allowable erosion control methods.

Prairie Dog

Sergeant John Ordway--not Lewis, not Clark--gave the name "prairie dog" to the animal then new to science. Expedition members discovered it along what is now the 39-mile reach of Missouri National Recreational River. More...
