All aboard for the Inaugural Celebration of National Train Day in the Twin Cities! Please join us at the Amtrak Depot at the Saint Paul Midway Station for the first official local celebration of National Train Day. FREE family fun will be waiting on the platform!
Learn about and experience the past, present and future of railroading in the Midwest. The event will include: a rare collection of historic railroad equipment, including the famous business car, Gritty Palace, a Burlington Northern Sante Fe locomotive, a Minnesota Commercial Switch Engine, and a Fairmont A4 Maintenance Of Way Vehicle; exhibits and presentations by train experts; an extensive set of operating model trains; and music, magic and prize giveaways.
Kids of all ages will also have an opportunity to become National Park Service Junior Rangers as they learn about trains at the presentations, model railroads, and exhibits.
The event will include more than 25 exhibitors, with special presentations by Amtrak, Operation Lifesaver, National Railway Historical Society, Minnesota Transportation Museum, Minnesota Commercial Railroad, Hennepin County Regional Rail Authority, Metropolitan Transit Central Corridor, Red Rock Corridor Commuter Rail and the Minnesota Rail Passenger Association.
