National Park Service Management Policies
As a unit of the National Park Service, the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area also looks to the basic tenants of the National Park Service in considering the effects of its actions on historic sites. The National Park Service’s Management Policies 2006 (5.3.5.4.6 New Construction) state, “In preference to new construction, every reasonable consideration will be given to using historic structures for park purposes compatible with their preservation and public appreciation.”
