Creating a New Riverfront Corporation

Cordelia Pierson. Executive Director, Minneapolis Riverfront Partnership

There has been some recent discussion about the possibility of St. Cloud's establishing a Riverfront Corporation, and the extent to which such an entity could contribute to the protection of the Mississippi River's natural resources. The establishment of Minneapolis' Riverfront Corporation was authorized in 2008, and stewardship of a healthy ecosystem is one of the entity's primary goals. Minneapolis Riverfront Corporation (MRC) Executive Director Cordelia Pierson will discuss what was considered in MRC's development, how the corporation defined its working vision, and the "lessons learned" that other communities considering forming their own Riverfront Corporations may find helpful.
