Prairie Blazing Star Description: This plant grows best in mesic to wet conditions and grows to a height of 2 to 4 feet. It has spectacular flowers, which bloom from the top down and have varying flowering lengths. The flowers are bright purple and there are hairy pink bracts. Sow unstratified seed in the fall and stratified seed in the spring. Corms or divisions can also be used. Corms are produced from seed after one year and, when planted, should be covered in at least 2.5 inches of soil. |
