"Stormwater BMP Performance and Cost Benefit Assessments"
Mark Doneux. Administrator, Capitol Region Watershed District
In the spring of 2010, Mississippi River Forum participants had the opportunity to learn about innovative stormwater Best Management Practices (BMPs) that are being designed and implemented—locally and nationally—to improve water resources. Many participants' questions had to do with the costs, cost-to-benefit ratios, and quantifiable performance of those BMPs. Capitol Region Watershed District (CRWD), located in St. Paul, has recently completed research that addresses these very questions, and District Administrator Mark Doneux will share their results. Find out how four different BMPs' performance compares on volume reduction, total phosphorus removal, total suspended sediments removal, and overall cost-benefit analysis—as well as what lessons CRWD has learned that will be incorporated into its future research and stormwater management.
